Golden Bear's Hot New Licences for 2007
Golden Bear have a nearly 30 years experience producing some of the hottest, best known licensed products and this year is no exception with a wealth of new lines based on some of the most sought after children’s licenses.
The Telford-based firm is now the Master Gift and Toy licensee for SHAUN THE SHEEP, Aardman's forthcoming and much anticipated new television series. Created by Nick Park, the 2007 Shaun the Sheep programme will be Aardman’s first animation specifically aimed at the children’s television market. The series is set on a farm and will introduce a host of new characters such as Bitzer the Sheep Dog, BFS The Big Fluffy Sheep and the Flock who are happy to follow Shaun throughout his adventures. Whilst made for children's television the BBC series is expected to cross all age groups just as the Wallace and Gromit films do.
As would be expected of Golden Bear, a fantastic new toy range will launch at the beginning of next year to coincide with the programme’s broadcast. Appealing to children and adults alike, the products based on the brand new Aardman animated Shaun will create a whole new ‘flock’ of Shaun the Sheep fans.
Golden Bear is also the major toy licensee for the captivating CHARLIE & LOLA and will produce a series of beautifully crafted toys and games based on the loveable characters.
The Charlie and Lola BBC animated series is based on children's books by award winning author Lauren Child and is aimed at three to seven year olds. The stories themselves focus on the hilarious and imaginative ways in which 7 year old Charlie helps his younger sister Lola overcome some of the big challenges in her little life. The personalities are voiced by children and brought to life using two-dimensional 'cut-out' style animation combined with archive film footage and photographs.
The simple yet expressive animation lends itself perfectly to the creation of a toy and games range. Golden Bear have plans to develop products that reflect the fun-loving, humorous aspect of each character’s personality and are sure that the range will complement the existing licensed merchandise on offer.
HANA’S HELPLINE is a series about a duck agony aunt and her duckling son, who help animals who need emotional support. It deals with the kind of social and emotional issues that real children experience at the age they first start going to school. Airing on Milkshake in 2007, the series will be captured in a beautiful toy range by Golden Bear based on the various characters in the programme including Hana.
In addition to new licenses, Golden Bear are investing heavily into their classic existing licenses. NODDY, of which Golden Bear are Master Licensee, will undergo major product development with exciting new lines added to the already successful pre-school range.
Following the renewal of their longstanding contract with HIT Entertainment, the company will also add to the famous TALKING THOMAS & FRIENDS range bringing in yet more new characters to the collection. The relationship with HIT also extends to the loveable PINGU and more new products will be launched in 2007 centred around the popular penguin.
