Actively sharing stories is at the heart of Driver Dan's Story Train - encouraging children to pick up and engage with a book, explore the pictures, listen to it being read, share it with friends and family, re-imagine the story and ultimately read it over and over again.
In each episode of the series, shown on CBeebies, members of an ensemble cast of hand-crafted toy characters take us on a journey on the Story Train, each journey an adventure in story-telling. The characters are a colourful bunch of hand crafted toys that each live in a carriage of the . Each character has their own personality and their carriage is their home. Each carriage is specific to its owner; for example Loopy the dinosaur's carriage has a trampoline to match his lively nature!
The cast of characters includes: Driver Dan, Loopy the Dinosaur, Sweetie the Panda, Precious the camel and many more.
Let's meet the characters........................

Driver Dan is the reassuring adult character in the story train world. He is the calming source in the series but without being authoritarian - he is more like a friendly older brother than a father.
He loves having fun with all of his friends, driving the story train, guiding the action and narrative of each episode, and giving voice to the stories themselves.
Driver Dan is always available to help, leads the discussion both with Sweetie, Loopy, Precious and the Vrooms and of course the children at home, and tries his very best to answer their many questions. He is very practical, and uses his Fix-O-Tron to help get things done - from hooking up the character carriages to the story train, to starting the engine, to signalling his friends. Driver Dan is the character who makes everything happen in the way that it should in the Driver Dan Story Train series.

Precious is an enormously enthusiastic character - interested in everybody and everything!
She's never difficult to find - the bell on her tail is constantly tingling!
Precious is always asking questions - Why? What? Where? When?. In fact she'll ask until she finally gets the answer she's looking for!
Precious' carriage of the Story Train is a wonderful Arabian tent of sorts and opens up to reveal her favourite place to play..............a sandpit!

Loopy is by far the most excitable and physical character in the series. He is very lively, and loves to make his friends laugh, Precious, Tallulah, Sweetie and Driver Dan, with his silly physical antics. He can sometimes get a little too boisterous, and forget how big he is in relation to some of his friends, especially Sweetie!,but everyone accepts that Loopy is just a big bouncy dinosaur who can't help himself!
He is a little short sighted and i forever forgetting or losing his glasses, which makes for some fun searches and chasing!
Loopy loves stories about jumping and bouncing, and that are funny and energetic! Appropriately, Loopy's carriage, from the story train, transforms into a giant spotted trampoline, perfect for him to practise his bouncing about!
