Pancake Day Fun!

Posted by Lynette - on

Pancake Day with Golden Bear Toys

Tomorrow is Shrove Tuesday, better known by many as Pancake Day. It’s a day that most people will be eating a pancake or two in preparation for the beginning of lent. Lent is a Christian festival that starts on Ash Wednesday. During lent Christians choose to give up foods such as eggs, butter and fatty foods. This is why Shrove Tuesday is the day to eat pancakes; it gives you a chance to empty the cupboards of these foods that are banned through lent to stop temptation from getting in the way of all those good intentions.

Whether or not your give up food for lent there is a large chance you will taste some pancakes tomorrow. These are great fun to make and people of all ages enjoy experimenting with toppings and even having pancake races! The traditional topping of freshly squeezed lemon juice and caster sugar is often a firm favourite but in recent years families opt for more lavish toppings such as:

Chopped banana and honey

Mixed berries and maple syrup

Ice cream and melon
